Tagundnachtgleiche (Latin: Aequinoctium, Equinox): this refers to the two days in March and September every year when day and night are of equal duration.
Kurt Laurenz Theinert observed and captured the light and the darkness in our gallery rooms during a 24-hour-period on March 20 and 21. The resulting video sequences and photographs have been edited for this exhibition.
The phenomena observed by Kurt Laurenz Theinert, as for instance the changing colour of the light, the shadows or the reflections, have become part of a room installation which also explores the boundaries of what is technically possible to document. Light, change and darkness return to the gallery after being artistically transformed, thus creating the illusion of a new room within a room.
